The Voice is reality television series in the US that seeks to find and identify the country’s top new singing talent for persons above 15 years. It has become a popular show in the United States and it has also attracted quite an audience in other countries as well. The contestants are selected from public auditions and compete in different stages of the competition till star winner is finally found. A winner is determined by the number of votes cast by viewers routing for him or her via Internet, telephone or iTunes Store purchases of the contestant’s audio recorded performances.

Recently, the TV series premiered its 10th season on February 29, 2016. This is a big milestone for the team that put together this amazing show for its audience. The coaches of the tenth season were; Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera. The season finale was on May 24, 2016 where Alisan Porter was declared the winner and she was part of Team Christina. In this piece, we are going to take a look at the top 10 contestants in the show. During the competition, the contestants were to perform a solo song, duets with their coaches and perform one original song. The start singers of The Voice on the world were;

10.Mary Sarah


The Texan was the head of the pack in Team Blake Shelton. For her blind auditions, she sang “Where The Boys Are” by Connie Francis and carried on to perform a studio version of “I Told You So” by Carried Underwood, in the competitions semis. In 2014, she had teamed up with a number of country music artists to release a duets album, Bridges, featuring Dolly Parton, Vince Gill and Merle Haggard. He performance of “Johnny & June” by Heidi Newfield primed her to stick all the way to the finals. She is also a professional bowler.

9. Shalyah Fearing


The first born in a family of eight, Fearing works hard together with her mother to raise her siblings. She is from Florida and she is already a tiny powerhouse, having done a rendition of “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus for her blind auditions. Her Fearing Star band consists of her brothers and sisters. She was a member of Team Adam in Season 10 of The Voice and finished 9th.

8. Paxton Ingram


A professional dance teacher, Paxton idolizes the works of Michael Jackson. He hails from Miami, Florida and was a member of Team Blake Shelton, who fought to keep him in the competition. He perfectly performed “Break Every Chain” by Tasha Cobbs making the crowd and judges go wild. He was once an extra in a commercial with renowned singer, Britney Spears. He finished 8th in the competition.

7. Nick Hagein


He was inarguably a talented singer in the competition. Nick is a husband and father to a son and has the energy to perform great songs of John Mayer, his inspiration. He overcame bone and joint disability in his childhood. He was part of Team Christina having being brought back into the competition by her. He performed “Your Body Is A Wonderland” by John Mayer hence gathering votes from his fans.

6. Bryan Bautista


Having not made it through Season 9’s auditions, Bryan attended some vocal lessons and returned to try Season 10. He was a member of Team Christina and pushed on till the finals. He and Christina added some horn and light jazz sensibility to “The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars and effortlessly bossed the song till its end. He earned major voting credibility all over the voting platforms, dedicating his songs to his family members and fans and was the first runners up of the competition.

5. Daniel Passino


The Ann Arbor native came into the light of 2016 The Voice competition by singing Marvin Gay for his audition. He was brought back into the competition by Pharrell Williams. He performed a rendition of “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper. His smooth voice allowed him to sing his way to the 5th position in season 10 of The Voice.

4. Laith Al-Saadi


Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Laith was The Voice’s season 10’s finalist. Aged 39, he is a full time musician having formed his first blue band when he clocked 15 years. He was in Team Adam. He has one of the best voices and happened to mesmerize the judges with his brilliant voice, hard work and dashing personality. He is also known for his performances with a number of musical instruments like the guitar, piano and the bass.

3. Hannah Huston


A naturally shy person, she avoids performing in large audiences. Hannah is preschool teacher who loves to sing. The 2016 Voice US was an excellent platform for her to show her talent to the world despite coming from Nebraska, known for not producing any music talent. She was part of Team Pharrell and performed “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt. Her eloquence, proficiency and eloquence made her excel throughout the competition and land the 4th spot in the finals of the competition.

2. Adam Wakefield


Having lost his brother to metal illness and drug overdose, Adam continued to perform for audiences even after this tragedy. He and his brother grew up together performing in their local and managed to be in Tem Blake Shelton in the competition. He sang “Lights” by Journeys and his ability to transverse in a number of musical grounds is what made his stick that long in the competition. He was primed to succeed Alisan as a number one contender for the winner of The Voice, season 10 if she happened to drop out of the competition.

1. Alisan Porter


Alisan made history in Season 10 by becoming the champion of The Voice being coached by a woman. She was part of Team Christina having sang Blue Bayou in her blind auditions. She went on to perform “California Dreaming” by The Mamas and The Papas, as a rock version that got the crowd and judges wild. She comfortably bossed the song “Sit With Me” by Lorraine Ellison. She also advanced her public vote on weekly basis up to the finals and performed the original song, “Down That Road” and crowned the winner of the competition.
